The CoK spokesperson, Bruno Rangira confirmed to IGIHE that Nkurunziza submitted his resignation letter to the Acting Mayor, Parfait Busabizwa this Wednesday.
Rangira said that in the letter, Nkurunziza cited personal reasons.
The City Engineer steps down following the April resignation of Mayor Pascal Nyamulinda who also cited personal reasons.
The by-elections of Nyamulinda’s successor are scheduled on May 25th 2018, but the City Engineer position goes through a recruitment process.
