{The governor of Southern Province, Alphonse Munyentwali has requested churches and religious denominations to be at the front in the eradication of genocide ideology among their congregants through preaching positive values of unity and reconciliation. }
He made the call as he attended various events held in Southern Province of commemorating 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
“As Church leaders, you must be the first to demonstrate good leadership before your followers, teaching good characters, acts and become exemplary. We all need collaboration in that struggle of completely eradicating genocide ideology,” he said.
Munyentwali said that churches can play a big role since they have great influence on positively shaping the minds of believers.
He also requested Rwandans to support one another on how to best avoid the lethal genocide ideology.
He asked parents and teachers to teach children about negative consequences of discrimination as well as benefits of unity to enhance oneness, patriotism and national development.
