Chancellery for Heroes, National Order and Decoration of Honour (CHENO), is in the process of expanding its activities under a new project that will involve revamping its headquarters where visitors will learn about Rwanda’s heritage, history of bravery and valor, patriotism, self sacrifice, humanity and other values. The new project of rejuvenating the chancellery was presented to the Minister of Sports and Culture, Uwacu Julienne during her visit to the chancellery.
Minister Uwacu commended the project, arguing people to learn from it since Patriotism museum contributes to the resilience of the country.
She said that CHENO was inaugurated in 1995 as an effort to uphold values of valor and patriotism.
The CHENO Chairman, Habumuremyi Pierre Damien has revealed that the Chancellery plans to give a decent burial to Nyange heroes, who perished during an attack on the school on 18th March 1997 by Interahamwe.
“Upgrading of burial places has already started and Nyange school campus will become the training site in the values of patriotism, bravery, devotion and ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’”, he revealed.
Minister Uwacu has appreciated achievements of the CHENO and requested the Chancellery to continue with the promotion of patriotism and other virtues of valor. Rwandan heroes are classified in three categories including Imanzi, Imena and Ingenzi.
