The executive secretary of Gituza cell, Rukumberi sector of Ngoma district in Eastern Province has been put under police custody as investigations get underway over his alleged pulling down of the national flag at midnight yesterday.
Speaking to IGIHE, the Eastern Province police spokesperson, IP Kayigi Emmanuel has confirmed his arrest adding that the detainee claimed he was testing whether the night patrol was on standby.
“ It is true that he has been arrested and the investigation is being carried out to establish if he wanted to rob the flag or was testing whether the night patrol was standby as he explained,” said IP Kayigi.
He was detained by night patrol which took him at a nearby police station of Sake.
