{Some of Burundi refugees in Rwanda say they are worried by the decision of the Rwanda government to relocate them to other countries and request to remain in Rwanda where they feel secure.}
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo has said that accommodating a big number of refugees from a neighboring country brings negative consequences and so there are talks with non government organizations and international community to seek how to relocate Burundi refugees accommodated in Rwanda.
Talking to IGIHE, some Burundians who requested anonymity over security reasons have expressed worries over the decision since they don’t trust security of countries where they will be relocated.
“We have not welcomed the decision. This region has security break down. Rwanda has adequate security and we want to stay here as a country we share culture and language,” he said.
“Burundians will not adapt easily wherever they will be relocated .They will not meet authorities hearing their concerns as it was in Rwanda,” said another refuge.
Others say it would be better allowing everyone to head to a country of their choice..
In recent months, Rwanda has requested partners and international organizations to accommodate Burundian refugees in Rwanda. No party has responded to the request even though the situation of political crisis in Burundi is not ebbing.
Rwanda accommodates more than 75,000 Burundi refugees who started entering the country in May 2015 when president Nkurunziza confirmed to be among candidates seeking to run for another term.
