Burera: Youth boost security and hygiene campaign

{The youth in Burera District have joined Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the district to raise awareness in the promotion and preservation of security and hygiene.}

On Friday, the youth conducted the campaigns in Butaro and Kinyababa sectors.

The exercise involves house-to-house awareness where they also share tips on community policing, and sanitation and hygiene.

According to the District Community Liaisons Officer (DCLO) of Burera, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Phelin Nshimyumukiza, who was part of the exercise, they visited about 80 households.

“This is a continuous exercise that will continue to all the 17 sectors. It is a youth outreach programme that we commend as police and we hope it will make a difference,” he said.

He noted that poor sanitation can equally be a security issue adding that ensuring cleanliness means preventing diseases that can cause insecurity and affected household and community economic growth and development.

He appealed to the youth in the district to join the noble cause to make change.

Gervain Ngembe, the coordinator of youth volunteers in Burera said that the initiative is aimed at developing the district in general, but in particular to educate masses of the benefits of good health.
