Burera: DASSO personnel challenged on professionalism

{Members of the District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) in Burera District have been urged to enhance law enforcement and forge a closer partnership with security institutions and the general public in a bid to ensure crime prevention.}

The call was made by the Mayor of Burera, Florence Uwambajemariya in a meeting with DASSO members recently.

The meeting was also attended by the National Coordinator of DASSO, Chief Supt. Sam Rumanzi and the District Police Commander (DPC) Supt. Dieudonné Rwangombwa.

“Your job is of great importance in ensuring security in communities; we highly appreciate your efforts that’s why we urge you to keep up and always work closely with Police at all the time,” said Mayor Uwambajemariya.

In his address to DASSO personnel, CSP Rumanzi hailed their level of reporting and urged them to keep it up and perform even better.

He reminded them of their responsibilities as crime preventers and urged them to always ensure they provide timely information and work within the limits of their mandate in identifying and apprehending wrongdoers to have a crime-free society.

“You should be men and women of integrity who are committed to executing their duties effectively with maximum discipline and professionalism,” Supt. Rumanzi said.

“Know the people in communities you operate in, if there are those who are having family wrangles, always inform authorities before they turn violent,” he said.

The DASSO District Coordinator Jean Pierre Ndahumba said that from the meeting, members recommit to strengthen their performance.

“We recommit to intensify our neighborhood watch programme as a measure of crime prevention. As DASSO, we will work hard and ensure that citizens trust us with information. To achieve that, we will be at the best of our performance with maximum discipline and professionalism,” Ndahumba said.
