{An accountant and a cashier at Kamabuye Sector Sacco in Bugesera district have been arrested over alleged misappropriation of resources. }
The police spokesperson in Eastern Province, IP Emmanuel Kayigi has confirmed information about the arrest citing alleged misuse and misappropriation of money kept with a SACCO under their management.
“The culprits accepted to have illicitly ‘borrowed’ money from accounts of clients,” he said.
Kayigi explained that the suspects illegally withdrew over Rwf 1 million adding that audit and investigations are underway to establish the extent of swindling.
In March 2016, another employee of Kamabuye Sacco, a one Nsengimana Xavier, disappeared as he was being investigated for alleged misappropriation of more than Rwf 7 million.
