The Eastern Police Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Benoit Nsengiyumva has warned residents in Bugesera District against illegal mining which he said is not only a criminal act but may lead to loss of lives.
The warning comes following the recent case Bugesera District, Rweru sector where a man died after cliff of the close site where he was mining illegally in Muyoboro Village, curved in.
SSP Nsengiyumva said the incident was reported by a security guard at the site.
“Illegal mining is not only a criminal act but also leads to loss of lives, which we can’t afford to continue,” he said.
He appealed to the general public to fight the dangerous acts and report those involved.
