Bugesera: Remains of Genocide victims Found in Mass Grave

{{Remains of eight Genocide victims have been found in a mass grave discovered at Nemba Village in Bugesera District.

The mass grave was discovered when feeder road in the area was being upgraded}}.

Bugesera mayor Louis Rwagaju confirmed discovery of the mass grave: “This is one of the challenges we face; not all places where the Tutsi died are known. It is thus our challenge to continue challenging Genocide perpetrators or witnesses to be courageous enough to tell us the truth.”

The victims could have been intercepted while fleeing to Burundi during the 1994 genocide against ethnic Tutsi’s which claimed a million lives countrywide.

At the time of 1994 Genocide, the area was not inhabited.
