{A trade Mission of approximately 50 companies, including a large British Delegation, will visit Rwanda to explore trade and investment opportunities between 11th and 14th March 2015.}
The Mission is being organized by the Eastern Africa Association, based in London and East Africa, with support from UK-based Developing Markets Associates (DMA), the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the British High Commission in Kigali.
The mission follows two successful forums held in London in October 2014, at which President Kagame was present.
During the mission delegates will be addressed by representatives of the Government of Rwanda, the British High Commissioner to Rwanda, William Gelling, and others.
Delegates will also participate in business-to business meetings, and visit different locations across the country.
The participating companies are from a range of sectors, including a focus on financial and business services.
In a press statement, the British High Commission in Kigali said “We are proudly supporting the mission, as the UK is not only a committed to development partner of Rwanda, but also we are dedicated to strengthening the commercial links between the two countries.”
“We believe that encouraging and supporting British business in Rwanda, and investing in improving the business climate here, will enable both countries to prosper”
Rwanda is an attractive prospect for British investors, with economic growth around 7% and a stable political and business environment.
The Embassy added that “There are already around 150 British companies registered here, but in order to attract more British investment, Rwanda needs to continue working to reduce the costs of doing business.”
The UK is investing € 4.8 million in improving the business climate in Rwanda, through DFID’s Rwanda Investment Climate Reform Programme 3.
The Programme will support the deepening of reforms aimed at improving the transparency, predictability and certainty of Rwanda’s investment climate, attracting investment and creating competitiveness.
