Brian Kagame, the son of President Paul Kagame is among the more than 430 students who have attended the National Itorero dubbed ‘Indangamirwa’ held for 9th time in Gabiro Military Training Center.
The students include Rwandans studying abroad and others from across the country that sat for senior six national examinations in 2015.
The National Itorero will last three weeks with focus on civic education courses and an insight into the vision.
Last year’s similar Itorero was attended by 238 students.
The “Itorero” is a Rwandan civic education institution which aims mainly at teaching all Rwandese civic education, preserve the culture and moral values, social solidarity, patriotism, integrity, bravery, tolerance, the dos and don’ts of the society among others.
1,733 students have been taken through the program of Itorero since 2008.Trainings offered to Indangamirwa have brought fruitful results as participants master national values.
The chairman of National Itorero Commission, Rucagu Boniface once told IGIHE that students’ behaviours have greatly improved with the discipline imparted through Itorero.
“Learned youth would feel separate from ordinary citizens but they changed after acquiring knowledge on culture and moral values .They humble, participate in community work, join others to fund vulnerable people and help citizens to adopt government’s policies,” he said.
