{President Paul Kagame has requested the youth to strive towards developing their country instead of adhering to calls and offers outside where they are promised advanced livelihoods.}
President Kagame noted this yesterday talking to 2000 youth from across the country that completed the two week civic education dubbed ‘Inkomezamihigo’ held in Huye district of Southern Province.
He said that Rwandans have inner capacities of doing what they deserve and their identities are not the face but ambitions and goals which must be prioritised.
“Sometimes they come and pick some youth, give them transport promising to give them better life. No, never deny being Rwandan as you are! You should seek to become a healthy developed Rwandan,” said Kagame.
President Kagame said that it becomes a loss for people who accept to be taken out of their home. “If you are taken to be assimilated into another land’s inhabitant, you are nothing,” he said.
He also compared it to something cooked and becomes neither ‘raw nor cooked’. He asked the youth to avoid being ‘half-cooked’ noting that much of the politics in Africa is ‘half-cooked’.
“Rwanda does not want half-cooked politics and you must be self confident .God created us equally. He didn’t create some people with capacity beyond ours except when we don’t feel it or don’t understand it to the extent that people always want to supervise others,” he said.
He said that the solution to false accusations from the whites is not responding to their talk but doing the right thing.
“When you stay focused on your goals, strive to accomplish your duties, then your progress becomes a solution to those that wish you bad. Don’t waste your time in war of words and insults .Ignore them, carry on with your responsibilities and breakthrough somewhere. The next time they will return thinking differently about you,” he counseled.
He compared this to the situation of Rwanda between 1994 and 1999 where the outside world considered Rwanda a failed state and because of genocide none dared to say ‘these people will progress. “A person arriving in the country today may have to think twice before stating that Rwanda is a small country.”
