Armed men have shot dead a cashier and stolen cash Frw 800,000 from a Savings and credit scheme SACCO.
Emmanuel Uzabumwana aged 24, was shot dead on Thursday night.
Uzabumwana was working as a cashier at Musange Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) located in Nyamagabe district.
Its alleged that Uzabumwana was on his way back from work when he encountered unidentified group of people.
They forced him to return to the SACCO offices where he gave them all the money at the office equivalent to Frw800,000 in cash.
They later shot him dead and in the process a stray bullet also injured a nearby resident.
Supt Hubert Gashagaza, police spokesperson in the southern region said, “Armed robbers also attempted to break open the safe deposit box by shooting it with multiple bullets using an AK47 submachine gun.”
Currently four people, including a security guard employed at the SACCO offices, have been arrested pending investigations into the brutal murder.
