The Government of Rwanda has set target to connect at least 70% of Rwandan homes to national electricity grid by 2017.
Increasing access to electricity is among the government’s key priorities, considering the expansion of the electricity grid to propel development among local communities.
Officials of Ngororero have said by the end of the Year, 2013, all 13 sectors of the District of Ngororero will have access to electricity.
The Vice Mayor of development and Economic Affairs in Ngororero, Mazimpaka Emmanuel told media that connecting rural communities to electricity grid will enhance development within the District.
Some of the residents who have already been connected have witnessed changes in the socio-economic.
About 8 sectors of Ngororero were served meaning that other 5 sectors will be connected by the end of 2013.
