{{Kigali, Rwanda – October 31, 2014.}} {Airtel Rwanda staff have donated blood as part of the employee’s contribution to the community. The voluntary exercise took place at the Rwanda Biomedical Center in Nyarugenge.}
Brian Kirungi, Airtel Rwanda’s head of Legal, Regulatory and CSR said, “It is important to donate blood, not only because it saves lives but it’s a selfless act that contributes to longevity of the beneficiaries’ health. We cannot ignore the importance of good health to the development of our country.”
He added that Airtel Rwanda would continue to rollout a number of social responsibility activities to give back to the community in efforts to contribute to the country in areas of health, education and social wellbeing.
In the same spirit, Airtel staff donned pink T-Shirts as part of the breast cancer awareness campaign held in October every year.
Blood donation drives and breast cancer awareness remain one of the major health initiatives that contribute to saving lives in many African countries.
