The Business Idea Challenge was open to all the students registered at KIST, NUR and SFB where AIP operates.
Phase II will consist of a Business Plan Competition where students from the mentioned university will have to develop and submit a business plan under 1500 words before June 15th 2013.
The AIP Country Director Kubwimana Herve, said winners will get Frw 2Million to help them establish their business or taking them to the next level.
The African Innovation Prize (AIP) encourages entrepreneurship through an integrated three-pillar program to stimulate a culture of entrepreneurship across Rwandan universities.
“We aim to encourage students in Rwanda to Dream, Design, and Dedicate themselves to their business ideas by providing a world-class business plan competition, supported by focused training tailored for students,” Kubwimana said.
He said that AIP wants students to have the opportunity to turn their business dreams into reality, to inspire and fund their profitable business ideas and plans through a two-phase business planning competition and believing the best way to achieve sustainability is to provide seed funding capital to businesses able to generate revenue.
The AIP Business Plan Competition was piloted with KIST Entrepreneurship Club in 2010 and 2011.
In 2012, the online competition expanded to include three other universities: KIST, SFB, and NUR.
“In 2014, we want to expand to other universities and we encourage other entrepreneurship clubs or groups of students that want to open entrepreneurship clubs in both public and private universities to join our program so that they may be supported.”
African Innovation Prize (AIP) is a UK-based charity founded in 2010 by Cambridge University graduates to spur student innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa, through university-based business planning competitions.
