Adolescent Girls to Get Vocational Training

About 1219 adolescent girls and young women will undergo vocational training aimed at increasing their employability and empowerment of disadvantaged young women and girls in the districts of Rulindo, Gasabo, Gicumbi, and Kicukiro.

The Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion will be supervising the implementation of the Adolescent Girls Initiative (AGI) for Economic Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women Project.

The Economic Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women Project is a new program supported by a Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Adolescent Girls and implemented by the Government of Rwanda, Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, the Workforce Development Authority, and Imbuto Foundation.

The AGI program Rwanda had completed a rigorous campaign and recruitment drive for girls where over 1711 girls expressed their desire to enroll in the program through an application in their respective sectors.

This laborious and challenging event culminated in the listing of 1219 eligible girls from the two urban Districts of Gasabo and Kicukiro, and two rural Districts of Gicumbi and Rulindo.

The Permanent Secretary of MIGEPROF, Julienne Munyaneza expressed that Girls and women cannot pursue brighter future, and live dignified lives if they are not economically empowered.

She particularly emphasized on the importance of women empowerment as a society empowerment.
