A look at Rwanda’s rankings in key Reports

{Rwanda’s impressive business rankings are a result of a variety of different policies and reforms that the government has put in place in the economic arena and beyond. This means that Rwanda’s competitiveness improvement is based on steady and sustained progress of numerous indicators. This can be seen across the different global reports that rank Rwanda.}

Rwanda is doing very well in many areas, from the ease of doing business on the continent, to gender parity and safety. For instance, according to the 2014 World Bank Doing Business Report, Rwanda is the 32nd easiest country in the world to do business (having come from 150th in 2008); it is also the 3rd easiest place to do business in Africa (after Mauritius and South Africa) and the 1st in the East African region.

Similarly, the Economic Freedom of the World Report and the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report both rank Rwanda as the 3rd economically free and most competitive country respectively, in the Sub-Saharan African region. Rwanda did move up 4 places from 66th to 62nd this year.

Moreover, according to Gallup’s Global State of Mind Rwanda is ranked as a No.1 country where a citizen is most likely to feel Safe. The same report indicates that Rwanda has the 2nd least wide spread corruption in government after Singapore. In addition, Rwanda is ranked 9th globally and 1st in Africa in employee-employer relations according to the INSEAD Business School of the world

Owing to its clean and green environmental practices, Rwanda has the best ecological footprint in Africa and ranks 4th in the world. To add to this Rwanda also has the 11th smallest carbon emissions per capita. Clearly, there is consistency in global reforms on Rwanda’s business climate.
