The cash is expected to clear all outstanding debts the ailing ONATRACOM owed to various parties.
Eng. Peterson Mutabazi in charge of transport in the ministry of Infrastructure said government is focused on reviving the public transport entity and overhauling the entire operations of ONATRACOM.
ONATRACOM suffered acute financial mismanagement that led to its collapse and eventual disappearance from the roads.
The company had several buses plying various routes across the country and reaching deepest destinations that have always been unreachable by privately owned commuter buses.
Under the new modes of operation, ONATRACOM is expected to revive under partnership with private investors for a period of 3years where its expected the company will have gained self sustenance.
