Cecafa Kagame Club Championships Kick off in Sudan

{{Sudan’s South Kordofan State is hosting 39th Cecafa Kagame club championships that starts today despite conflicting reports that the states city had been under attack from rebels in the area.}}

The country’s officials however, urged people from the region and Sudan, who “believe in peace”, to ignore the reports and attend the matches as the “security was tight”.

The Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said that people, who had pulled out their teams and later wanted to return, were desperate and would do anything to sabotage the event.

A new 25,000 seater facility will host the opening match between El Hilal Kadugli and URA FC from Uganda.

So far 7 teams are in Sudan as Cecafa declined the re-application of Tanzania and South Sudan sides to be included in the fixtures.

Meanwhile El Fasher’s Governor Mohamed Yousuf Kibir is preparing two venues that will host Group A and B matches on Wednesday.
