The Minister of Trade and Industry, François Kanimba on June 14 presided over the launching of the SACCOs saying it was the right time to strengthen the people-based cooperative banks.
He added, “I must say that I am happy, the programs of the ministry have been properly implemented as shown here in Kirehe. I commend the work done by the people of this district. They have a cooperative bank in every sector. They are exemplary,” he said.
Kirehe district Mayor, Protais Murayire commended the development in the area noting that; “residents understood properly what the government advised them to do. This is why we witness tremendous progress in all areas.There are some challenges like debt recovery in a few banks, which will be streamlined soon.”
The Minister further remarked that people’s livelihoods in the district had improved, noting that poverty was becoming history.
