The half-day activity, which brought together about 100 people including head of schools, security guards and village leaders operating in the sector, was organized and conducted by Rwanda National Police.
Presiding over the training, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bosco Rangira, Central Region Police Commander (RPC) said fire is a threat to infrastructure and national development in general.
ACP Rangira urged the business community to invest in firefighting equipment, but also engage in fighting other crimes.
He attributed some crimes like theft and assault to idlers.
Victor Shingiro, from Energy and Water Sanitation Authority (EWSA) urged participants to be partners in protecting the utility body facilities.
Shingiro said EWSA equipment like electrical cables; water tubes and pylons are being vandalized, and called for partnership to protect these facilities.
The Executive Secretary of Kacyiru sector, Vedaste Nsabimana, commended the significant efforts by Police in fighting fire incidents and crimes in general.
He urged participants to take the training seriously and importantly share the skills and knowledge with their subordinates.
Joy Umutesi, the head teacher of Kacyiru Primary School believes such trainings are crucial and should be taken seriously.
