{{The Ministry of Youth and ICT (MYICT) and the National Youth Council (NYC) in collaboration with stakeholders have organized a YouthConnekt month from 3rd – 31st May 2013.}}
Districts will participate in various activities ranging from economic development, social develop and service to communities. The Theme has been set as “The Promise of a generation”.
In 2012 during the YouthConnekt Convention, Youth proposed a YouthConnekt Month where they can contribute to the development of our country.
“The youth will meet and be able to contribute to National building especially focusing on their role in building our society,”says Rosemary Mbabazi The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and ICT.
The launch of this month at National level will take place on 3rd May in Ngororero District, while the closing ceremony at National Level will take place on the 31st May in Nyarugenge District.
The Executive Secretary of National Youth Council, Alphonse Nkuranga, says, during YouthConnekt Month,Youths will discuss their role in fighting against Genocide ideology to build a better country.
They will also visit sick people at hospitals and support them in various ways, umuganda to support vulnerable persons, awareness campaign for ‘one cell one cooperative’ and visit role model youth cooperative at cell level, facilitate registration of new cooperatives, a lecture on mindset change towards employment; and to get tips about developing bankable projects.
