Ethiène Tuyishime 12 has been burnt to death as fire gutted the house he was sleeping in on Tuesday.
The incident happened at 11 PM Ngoma , Kicukiro Sector.
The mother of the boy Uwiragiye Vestine said they were asleep when she noticed fire burning inside the house. She later rushed out the baby she was with and returned to extinguish the fire.
Uwiragiye was later joined by her husband who had been out of the house by the time fire razed the house. Efforts to extinguish the fire were fruitless.
The couple said, they tried to wakeup all the children and took them out of the house. However, they didnt realise one of the children Tuyishime had remained asleep in the house.
“When we noticed that Tuyishime was missing, we tried to re-enter the burning house but there was too much fire and we were unable to rescue him,” Uwiragiye said.
Neighbours suspect that the fire could have been caused by an electric short circuit.
The Energy Water and Sannitation Authority EWSA at Gikondo, Nyinawingoma Ziporah Murigo said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
