Kayonza Herders Accused of Grazing on Farmers’ Crops

Residents of Ndego sector are reportedly angry at the growing vice which could lead to food shortage in the area.

Mutesi Anita the sector executive secretary in charge of Social Affairs has urged farmers to plant sisal plants to shield their gardens from further attack by livestock.

Residents accuse herders of intentionally leading livestock to graze on farmers’ crops.

“Herders lead livestock into gardens during night hours. And at day break, farmers find their crops destroyed without knowing who is responsible,” Mutesi said.

She warned that any livestock found grazing on farmers crops will be seized and the law will take its course.
