Catholic Priest Kalinijabo to Marry in April

{{A former catholic Priest Fr. Lambert Kalinijabo has announced April as date for his marriage which has caused mixed feelings among the conservative members of the Roman catholic faith.}}

Rwanda has a larger Catholic population who find the decision by Fr. Kalinijabo to seek marriage as unusual.

Fr. Kalinijabo is reported to have withdrawn from active duty in the Catholic church and is thus embarking on a new life without adhering to conservative principles of the Roman catholic church that require such persons to remain celibate.

Monsignor Philipo Rukamba of Butare Diocese confirmed the news about Fr. Kalinijabo’s marriage preparations saying, “its true he is going to marry”.

Msgr. Rukamba also explained that although Fr. Kalinijabo requested to retire from fatherhood, it takes alot of time to have such permision granted.

“the resignation letter has to be sent to Vatican for the Pope to consider. But Fr. kalinijabo has not waited for the Popes Decision on his resignation request”.

According to the Roman Catholic rules, Fr. kalinijabo’s decision to marry contravenes the Church rules that govern the priests meant to remain celibate forlife.

Fr. kalinijabo’s contravention would attract Excommunication from the Roman Catholic Church.

Kalinijabo has reportedly switched to the Anglican Faith (Protestant). He was previously Headteacher at Koleji Kristu Umwami in Nyanza district.
