Rutemabatutsi literally means the one who kills ethnic Tutsi’s.
However, Mugesera refuted the charges of prosecution adding that he was worried by the false accusations of the prosecution because, according to him, his child was named Rutema (cutter) only.
The Prosecution said it learnt from readers’ comments posted on IGIHE website saying that Mugesera named his son ‘Rutemabatutsi’.
The comments were posted by readers who know Mugesera’s family very well.
However, thorough investigations will be conducted to find out whether the son was named “Rutemabatutsi” or “Rutema” only.
