Victoire Ingabire’s appeal is expected to be heard in the Supreme Court today.
The defence team and prosecution had filed an appeal challenging the 8-year-sentence handed to Ingabire.
In October 2012, High Court,found Ingabire guilty of Genocide denial, conspiracy and planning to cause state insecurity.
She was acquitted of other charges including; genocide ideology, promoting ethnic divisionism and supporting armed groups.
Court also cleared her on charges of genocide ideology, saying all the statements she made did not indicate that she was calling for genocide.
