Dabengwa led a high level delegation from MTN Group that also included Ahmad Farroukh the Group Chief Operations Executive.
The visit was part of the leadership tour to a selected number of countries where MTN operates, of which the Rwandan operation was privileged to be among.
The visit was also part of the roadshow to sensitize MTN staff members on a number of issues including the new vision and mission.
The new MTN vision is to, “Lead the delivery of a bold new digital world to our customers” while the new mission is to, “to make our customers’ lives a whole lot brighter.”
During his visit, Dabengwa met a couple of MTN Rwanda top officials and staff members in a fruitful gathering during which the officials stressed the importance of providing a distinct digital service to all subscribers and of extending the latest mobile technology.
“Rwanda has always been an important operation for MTN. Our main intention is to maintain the market leadership in Rwanda and we can only do this by creating value for our shareholders, employees and communities in a sustainable way and in accordance with values and ethics of MTN,” Dabengwa said.
Further, the team’s ‘Y’ello’ spirit was stressed to enable MTN Rwanda lead the telecoms market and to contribute to developing the African continent.
Dabengwa also responded to employees’ enquiries regarding trends in the telecom industry and the new group’s vision and mission.
Prior to his visit, Dabengwa recently announced the MTN Group annual results for 2012, which reflected a big rise in revenues and number of subscribers in spite of the continuing slowdown of the world economy.
It was also announced that the total number of MTN subscribers increased by the end of last year by 15.1 percent to 189.1 million worldwide and the revenues grew by 10.9 percent.
