According to statistics, there was an increase in the number of females who sat for examinations in 2012 compared to the previous year.
The general performance of female candidates increased to 12,846, representing 44.7% in 2012, from 11,770 (42.6%), who passed in 2011.
In general, males excelled in sciences.
Students from the catholic owned schools, namely Petit Seminaire de Rwesero, Petit Seminaire St Jean Nkumba, Petit Seminaire Nyundo, Petit Seminaire St Leon Kabgayi and Petit Seminaire Virgo Fidelis de Karubanda feature among the best performers
