About 19 countries are represented in Kigali at a technical workshop on voluntary guidelines on tenure of land, forests and Fisheries.
The three-day workshop that started February 12 was co-organized by the Rwanda Ministry of Natural Resources and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
During the first day of the meeting Rwanda’s Minister of Natural Resources told participants that the country has made significant progress in sustainable management of Natural Resources.
According to Stanislas Kamanzi, the Minister of Natural Resources, Rwanda has also developed a national forestry policy and master plan for fisheries and fish farming as part of the proper governance of land tenure system.
“To ensure security of land tenure for all, our country has implemented the land tenure reform that was developed and adopted in 2008 after three years of trials and process designing,” he said.
Participants at the workshop are from Anglophone and Portuguese speaking African Countries.
They include professionals working on the tenure of land, fisheries & forests in public sector, private sector, and academia.
