{{A Chinese delegation led by Justin Yifu Lin, former Senior Vice President of the World Bank has said Rwanda has the potential to exploiting various markets around the world noting that the country is undergoing the same stages that China and South Korea passed through.}}
The delegation is in Rwanda to explore the opportunities for collaboration between Rwanda and China.
Rwanda Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources Agnes Kalibata and Lin discussed various possibilities of expanding several markets, mainly in the production of silk and mushrooms, both of which China has a long history of experience of producing and exporting.
According to Professor Lin, Rwanda is experiencing a stage both China and South Korea underwent in the 1980s and 1960s, respectively.
“Rwanda is ready to take off. It is important to take the favorable factors within Rwanda and exploit opportunities, allowing Rwanda to compete within the global market,” says Lin.
“Although we may have a few weaknesses, we have farmers who are ready to produce. We have production facilities waiting to be used. The ground is placed for a vast number of opportunities,” Kalibata said.
