Infrastructure Development Critical in EDPRS 2

{{The Ministry of Infrastructure aims to ensure gender mainstreaming in Water and Sanitation targeting 100% in EDPRS 2 by 2017 instead of 71.3%, Energy access and electricity generation of 1000MW by 2017 EDPRS 2 instead of 16% of 100MW, Urbanization 35% instead of 14%baseline, and 85% instead of 67% of road network in good condition.}}

It is clear that given the ambitious targets, Infrastructure has a critical role to play in EDPRS 2 by thinking innovatively while at the same time providing the right platform for rapid economic growth.

According to reliable information, the Rwanda Ministry of Infrastructure is targeting next 5years to increase water supply systems in urban and rural areas with a major focus on rural grouped settlements.

These will be done by constructing of water kiosques and communal water fetching points in 200m in urban areas and 500m in rural areas to get access to clean water as the proposed gender sensitive Indicator.

Only what residents will have to do is to make sure that all infrastructures developed are well managed as well as knowing that the services that infrastructures render to them is critical to their wellbeing.

The Ministry said that apart from activities mentioned above it will also include, diversification of Energy sources and promotion of the use of renewable biomass energy as well as scaling up electricity through the EARP (Electricity Role out Program).
