A study commissioned by the Collaborative Council of Organizations Initiatives Support Base (CCOAIB) revealed that 77.3% of Rwandans are satisfied with the impact of services provided in the context of decentralization.
“This study is in the context of the national decentralization policy aimed at enabling people to participate actively in the political transformation, economic and social situation,” said Jean-Claude Ngendandumwe, Executive Secretary CCOAIB.
He added that the study is an opportunity to identify the ups and downs, achievements and challenges, and thus propose strategies to provide answers.
Entitled “Inventory of the provision of services by the decentralized and its impact on the socio-economic life of the population in Rwanda,” this study validated this Thursday, February 24, 2013.
It was conducted in three districts, namely District of Nyarugenge Gicumbi and Kamonyi.
The study also reveals that opportunities are among others the political will at the highest level, initiatives locally thoughts (Home grown solutions) such as Imihigo, Ubudehe Bye Bye Nyakatsi and Girinka Munyarwanda.
Services that have been appreciation are those of the Education, Health Administration, Justice, Agriculture and infrastructure.
Education is the most popular with 82.0% followed by the Administration and Justice, while the Health, Agriculture and Infrastructure are the least appreciated.
Education is valued because it has become a reality for all, through the system of nine years basic education (9YBE) through which access to the school is easy in terms of distance.
