In Gitarama cell Muhanga District, a cordon and search operation conducted yesterday by Joint Forces in which five people were arrested with 100 Lts of local brew known as “Muriture”, 12 loiterers who were taken to Muhanga transit center for proper screening,33 pieces of dry gin and 02 pieces of plastic bags.
The suspects and the exhibits are held at Nyamabuye Police Station.
In other related development, In Rusizi District, the same activity was conducted in Nyange cell, Bugarama sector whereby following a good cooperation between the local citizens and security forces in the area, they got relevant and reliable information about the state of rampant criminality in Bugarama and tipped off the Police which organised with other security organs a well conducted target operation.
In the process and after it, they managed to arrest 34 loiterers of which 04 Burundians without proper identifications and 12 prostitutes.
300Lts of Muriture were again seized and publicly destroyed. 134 pellets of cannabis were also seized and destroyed.
This is a big achievement as locals were there to witness the outcome of the operation and given opportunity to castigate crime involvement by local population.
