According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) René Irere, the spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety department, the ill-fated truck was transporting petroleum products.
“The truck veered off the road on a slope, resulting in the unfortunate death of one of the two individuals in the cabin, while the driver survived with injuries,” he stated.
Additionally, SSP Irere noted that the truck was carrying a shipment of petrol, which subsequently spilled onto the road. Prompt action was taken to clean and clear the road before it was reopened for use.
