The man on the run has been serving life sentence handed to him after he was found guilty of murder.
IGIHE has learnt that Ntawukuriryayo escaped on Monday 23rd January 2023. The Spokesperson of RCS, SSP Pelly Uwera Gakwaya has told IGIHE that the search for this inmate is ongoing.
“It is true that he has escaped. Investigation to trace him was launched immediately. We request Rwandans to be collaborative and provide tip off on his whereabouts,” she said.
“A convicted person has to serve the sentence handed to him/her because escaping might lead to tougher punishment once arrested. What he has done constitutes a crime punishable by laws,” added SSP Gakwaya.
It is said that Ntawukuriryayo was handed life sentence in 2015. He was born in 1993 in Intwari Village, Nyaruteja Cell of Nyanza Sector in Gisagara District.
