According to a statement from the ministry, the incident occurred when the Nigerien military transport helicopter was trying to land on the military runway of Diori Hamani International Airport at around 10:40 a.m.
All three crew members died on the spot, despite the efforts of the emergency services to contain the fire, the statement said, adding that a commission of inquiry was immediately set up to determine the cause of this accident.
