The Executive Secretary of Gisenyi Sector, Jean Bosco Tuyishime has said that the suspects were arrested during an operation conducted last night.
“The exercise will be conducted every day as part of reinforced measures to ensure the security residents and shun theft in Gisenyi town. We were recently tipped of whereabouts of the thieves and fortunately found them in the place during the operation,” he said.
Tuyishime revealed that some of the suspects were caught along pathways attempting to ambush and dispossess residents of their belongings.
He also appealed on residents to provide information on thieves’ hideouts to be arrested and face the law.
The operation follows different cases where thieves stole household items including electronics and clothes among others in Gisenyi Sector.
