The incident took place on Thursday 10th August 2022 around 10.a.m.
Sources reveal that the deceased was along with playmates when they changed their initial plan of collecting wood sticks and joined other children swimming in River Cyongoroka.
The Executive Secretary of Ruharambuga Sector, Pascal Hagabimfura has told IGIHE that the girl drowned as she unknowingly swam through a deep area of the river.
Realizing that she was drowning, playmates who were swimming along with Bayiringire yelled at nearby farmers to rescue the girl but found her dead upon arrival.
Bayiringire’s body was taken to a nearby hospital for autopsy before her burial.
