Kagame holds talks with his counterpart of Senegal

Kagame was last in Senegal in February 2022 as he attended the inauguration of Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Dakar.

The Head of State stopped over in Senegal after concluding visits that began on 11th April 2022 to countries including Congo-Brazzaville, Jamaica and Barbados.

Macky Sall received Kagame on the evening of 17th April 2022 at Yoff Airport.

Senegal Presidency has revealed via Twitter handle that both Heads of State discussed on cooperation between respective countries.

On a continental level, Rwanda and Senegal are spearheading efforts to boost local vaccine manufacturing capabilities in partnership with BioNTech, a renowned biotechnology company.

Both countries were last year identified as potential regional vaccine manufacturing hubs in Africa.

The plants will be built in Kigali and Dakar in collaboration with BionTech and European Investment Bank.

Senegal and Rwanda have had diplomatic relations for a number of years. In 2021, the country’s embassy in Rwanda celebrated 10-year anniversary.

In the context of cooperation, several agreements have been signed at various levels including political, economic and cultural.

Senegal is one of the African countries where Rwanda has an embassy.
