A contingent of fifteen female police officers, on December 7, left for a one year peacekeeping mandate under the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast (UNOCI).
The female contingent led by Chief Inspector of Police Liberathe Mukagasana, replaces eight, whose mission ended on December 1.
The officers left for the mission in the West African nation at about 2:00pm aboard Ethiopian Airlines, and will perform various duties including monitoring and mentoring their counterparts in Ivory Coast as well as conducting patrols.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Stanley Nsabimana, during a pre-deployment briefing, yesterday, appealed to the officers to raise Rwanda’s flag high through providing quality services and be exemplary.
DIGP Nsabimana also asked them to uphold discipline during their stint.
The Contingent Commander, Chief Inspector of Police Liberathe Mukagasana, said they will aim at accomplishing their mission duties to restore peace in the West African nation.
“The experience and skills acquired during the pre-deployment training will help us execute our duties professionally,” stated Mukagasana.
