Mukantabana Heads African Parliamentary Union

Rwanda’s Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Rose Mukantabana has been elected to lead the African Parliamentary Union (APU).

This was during a special session of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) Committee of Women Parliamentarians in Kigali held under the theme: implementing strategies to support women candidates for legislative and local elections.

She will serve the post for a period of 2 years.

The elected candidate will represent countries of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe.

Most of the votes came from the countries above.

MP Engono Nchama Jesus Obono, Vice President of Chamber of Deputies in Equatorial Guinea commended the effort of Rwanda’s parliamentarians adding that Rose Mukantabana will significantly contribute her role in APU as she is going to be the leader of the later.
