The incident took place on Friday 16th July 2021 when blaze ripped through the man’s house located in Kinyange cell.
It is said that Kalisa and his son died inside the burning house after failing to find an escape.
Residents and Police rushed to extinguish the fire but could not save lives of the two who had already died.
The Executive Secretary of Gitega sector, Anathalie Uzamukunda has told IGIHE that the cause of fire remains unknown.
“It is true that the house caught fire killing the father and child,” he said.
Uzamukunda explained that Police rushed to intervene despite obstacles occasioned by narrow paths and congested houses in the area.
Rwanda Investigation Bureau has launched probe to establish cause of the incident.
