92 Public Institutions Have Citizen Charters

In line with improving customer care among public institutions, statistics show that regarding putting in place service standards, 92 Central Government institutions have established the Citizen Charters while 35 others are yet to be developed.

This was revealed Tuesday during an official launch of a three-month campaign on Service Delivery in Rwanda.

Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi noted that there are still some challenges which are leading to poor customer care in Public institutions.

Dr. Habumuremyi said that Rwandans can’t accept poor services while the country is doing better in other sectors.

MIFOTRA and MINALOC have developed citizen charter model for Districts, Sectors and Local Government service standards while RDB had put in place standards on tourism sector – Hotels, bars and restaurants.

Ministry of Health, RURA and Central bank respectively have now standards – on Health, transport and financial sectors.

The Minister praises Rwanda immigration office for good service delivery. ‘Everyone should imitate them.”

Habumuremyi added that “All Africans can now receive entry visa at airport in Rwanda. None requires visa application prior to travel.”
