More 400 English Teachers to be Hired

An extra 400 teachers will be hired into public schools to teach English.

This will increase the number of English subject teachers to 1015.

Previously there have only been 615 English Subject teachers.

The new changes under the “School based mentorship” program will see at least every school with two English subject teachers.

Schools operating under the 12-Year Basic Education are the most in need of English subject teachers.

Damiyani Ntaganzwa in charge of teacher development and management at Rwanda Education Board advised beneficiary schools to devise means of making use of the teachers.

Of the 615 teachers, 296 are Rwandan nationals and others are from DRC and East African countries.
