The incident took place on Sunday night in Intsinzi village, Ngarama cell of Ngarama sector in Gatsibo district.
After killing her husband, Nyiravakure reported herself to police station the next morning where she said she had hacked the husband to death with a machete in the bed.
The spokesperson of Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Modeste Mbabazi has confirmed to IGIHE that investigation is underway to establish the cause.
“The wife connected the murder to adultery but we are still carrying out investigation to identify the truth. She tied the husband in bed, hacked him and reported herself to officials,” he said.
Mbabazi reminded leaders of their duties to follow up family disputes earlier to prevent such heinous acts.
IGIHE has learnt that Nyiravakure has been living with the deceased Nyirinkwaya for three years, with two children between them.
