Rwanda requests countries hosting genocide fugitives to take them to court

He made the call yesterday in Ethiopia to the African Union Peace and Security Council
aimed at fighting against hatred ideology, genocide ideology among other crimes on the
African continent.

Amb.Nduhungireye conveyed the message to delegates of the council as few days
remain for Rwanda to mark the 25th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

“Fighting against the culture of impunity requires cooperation of world population. I call
upon all states to collaborate on this issue.

Amb Nduhungirehe said that UN resolution on preventing genocide is a reflection of how the world is absolutely willing to fight the crime.

150 countries approved international conventions to prevent genocide in January 2019.
Amb Nduhungirehe said 20 of 50 countries which have not yet approved the agreements are from Africa stressing the need to ratify these agreements.

Rwanda’s prosecution has recently reported that many of 1000 genocide fugitives are in
DRC and Uganda. DRC accommodates 356 while Uganda has 250 fugitives.

Rwanda has issued their arrest warrants of genocide fugitives in 33 countries.The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe has said that countries accommodating fugitives who perpetrated the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi should arrest and take them to court
