Police in Musanze District has warned 600 motorcyclists against violation of traffic rules and urged to ensure road safety.
The Northern Region Police Commander Chief Superintendent Fred Murenzi addressed motorcyclists drawn from Covatramo, Cotamono and Cotramo associations on Tuesday at Ubworoherane stadium.
Murenzi said, “People shouldn’t be losing their lives through road accidents. You should ensure that every journey is safe.”
“Make sure you give passengers head gears because this is vital in ensuring that they don’t contract skin diseases related to the sharing of helmets,” added Murenzi.
Motorcyclists were reminded that their contribution towards Musanze city’s transport is enormous.
They were urged to improve service delivery by observing traffic rules and also contribute towards the city’s security.
“uphold your dignity and work towards the overall social economic development,” he said.
Road users in the area have also been urged to be supportive in monitoring and reporting traffic offenses to stop road accidents.
Police reports indicate that hit and run incidences are on the rise as a result poor compliance with traffic regulations.
